Privacy Policy
Dance Moves is built to keep your dance notes and videos local first, with optional cloud sync when you choose to connect Google Drive.
Operator and contact
Dance Moves is operated from Italy. Privacy and data questions can be sent to info@gdrc.space or through the in-app feedback form.
What we store locally
The app stores moves, tags, usage logs, local video references, diagnostics, and settings in IndexedDB on your device. That data stays on the device unless you export it, back it up, or submit logs manually.
Analytics
We use PostHog EU for anonymous product analytics. Legal basis: legitimate interest (understanding how the product is used to improve it). Analytics are configured with memory-only persistence, so the app does not rely on persistent cookies or localStorage for tracking identifiers. Analytics events are retained for 12 months. PostHog may derive coarse country or region information from the request IP address.
- No cookie banner is used for analytics.
- We capture product events such as move creation, backup actions, and feature usage.
- We do not intentionally collect the content of your notes or the actual move text for analytics.
- You can disable analytics at any time from Profile → Data.
Google Drive backup
If you connect Google Drive, the app requests your basic Google profile (openid, email, profile) plus the app-private drive.appdata scope. The drive.appdata scope lets the app store its own backup data in a hidden, application-specific folder; it cannot read, list, or modify any of your other Google Drive files. Your account name and email are displayed locally so you can identify the connected account.
- The backup contains only data you created in Dance Moves: your moves, tags, usage logs, settings, and the videos you saved to local storage.
- You can delete the Drive backup at any time from Profile → Backup, or disconnect Drive without deleting it.
- If you have not connected Google Drive, no Google token is sent to any server.
Limited Use disclosure
Dance Moves' use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data obtained through Google Drive is used solely to provide and improve the backup and restore feature, is not transferred to third parties except as needed to provide that feature, is not used for advertising, and is not read by humans except with your consent or for security/legal reasons.
Share feature (server-hosted video)
When you use the Share feature to share a move with another user, the video file may be temporarily hosted on the app's backend server. Shared videos are automatically deleted after 14 days. You can delete a shared video earlier from within the app. Content hosted via the Share feature must not violate any applicable law. To request removal of content or to report abuse, contact info@gdrc.space.
Logs and support data
If you choose Submit logs, the app uploads the stored diagnostic logs for the current session so we can inspect the problem. Submitted diagnostic files are automatically removed from the server after 30 days, or earlier when storage limits are reached.
Feedback
When you intentionally submit feedback, the message you type is sent to PostHog EU together with technical context such as the app version. Do not include passwords, private video links, or sensitive personal information.
Your rights (GDPR)
If you are in the EU/EEA, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of data we hold about you.
- Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate personal data.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your personal data.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format (use Profile → Data → Export to do this locally).
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest (e.g. analytics).
- Restriction — ask us to restrict processing while a complaint is resolved.
- Lodge a complaint — with your national data protection authority (e.g. Garante Privacy in Italy, or the supervisory authority in your country of residence).
Because most data is stored exclusively on your device, the most direct way to exercise access, erasure, or portability rights is through the app itself (Profile → Data). For server-side data (submitted logs, shared videos) or to exercise other rights, email info@gdrc.space.
Your choices
You can export or delete local data from Profile → Data, delete the Drive backup from Profile → Backup, disconnect Google Drive without deleting local data, and disable anonymous usage analytics in Profile → Data.
